Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused by exposure to a type of asbestos used in building materials for decades. There have been many class-action lawsuits filed by people who got sick. This is where the value of the keyword came from. Lawyers want lots of people to join their class-action lawsuit. More people means a bigger settlement, and a bigger settlement means a bigger cut for them. And they don't have to do any more legal work than if they were just filing a lawsuit for one client! I would not recommend making a mesothelioma website to make money right now. There are just way too many people doing this, and there is no way the advertising is paying anywhere near the price the lawyers are paying per click. A mesothelioma website would only be good right now if it for educational purposes. Perhaps it's that kind of site that will eventually get a good ranking on Google, and hopefully sick people will finally get the quality information they need.

I've done a little research and found a few apparent competitors for this type of service. Sona Med Spa and Alternative Health Associates seem to be among the top contenders. Could this keyword be the result of a vicious bidding war? Probably. I do not expect to see this kind of thing last though, so you might not want to build a site around such a specific keyword. If you're interested in laser hair removal you might be able to make a profitable site out of that, but focus on more than the washington dc area.

Insurance Medical Temporary - Average Price : $29.00

This is another weird combination of words that most of us can understand, but we would also group the words in a different order to make more sense. Clearly the popular term here would be "temporary medical insurance." I think we can all imagine what this is, even if we've never needed it. If you're between jobs and you do not have medical insurance, you might want to consider something like this. I'm sure the cost per day (if you want to do the math that way) is much higher than regular medical insurance. This is how pretty much anything works. Think about it, if you rent a car you pay more per day than if you lease it. The profit margins for temporary medical insurance is obviously going to be very high, so they are willing to pay a lot for potential customers.

This keyword combo is exactly what it sounds like: software for people who manage leases, particularly real estate properties. These software packages are essential to people and corporations who own a large number of properties. It would be so hard to keep track of each property on paper, including such information as when taxes are due, when rent is due, and so forth, while using an old pen and paper system. There obviously isn't a huge market for this type of software, and it is very expensive to develop, so the price is going to be very high. Since software comes on a CD-ROM disc that costs practically nothing to produce, the marginal cost for each new customer decreases. Since the market will probably never be oversaturated, the marginal cost could be expected to decrease indefinately, which is why these companies are willing to pay so much for keywords.

This keyword combination seems to have poor grammatical structure. It is mainly targetted at larger business who would be interested in buying conference call technology from AT&T. Obviously, only certain types of businesses would even be interested in conference calls, which allows multiple people to participate in a group meeting without having everyone in the same room. So why they high price for this keyword combination? Well, quite clearly, because this technology has very high profit margins. The technology has already been developed, and the cost of production of telephones and computers and software to handle this stuff is pennies. They just need customers, and they are willing to pay a lot of money for a potential customer.

Best Buy Gift Card - Average Price : $34

I don't think I have to explain what a Best Buy gift card is, but I will anyway. Best Buy is an electronics and high-tech goods store. I've tried to do some research on this one, but I have been unable to figure out why the price is so high. It must have been Best Buy bidding up their own keywords. Perhaps a shady competitor was involved. I have no idea. All I know is it probably won't stay that high. An electronics website can be very profitible, but I certainly would not center around Best Buy gift cards. I would expect the payoff for this type of click to be under $.20.

This is a very specific term for people with very specific needs. Although you would probably guess it has something to do with hiring rent-a-cops for concerts, it actually has to do with computers. Event management software monitors activities and resources on a network, and responds to such problems as security breaches. Obviously, individuals do not need this type of thing. You can use anti-virus software on your personal computer and enable software and hardware firewalls. Large networks need a little more. A security breach could cost a company millions of dollars, especially if vital information is stolen. Like I've said before, this may be a little too niche to build a site around, but if you look at slightly broader terms, such as "business network security", you might be able to fit this in there.

High Paying Kewords

Domains Yahoo - Average price per click : $97.44

This is a keyword that is usually at the top of everyone's high paying list, and I'm not entirely sure why. Yahoo has a domain name registration service for webmasters. That means you can go to them and register the website address you want. This is a very inexpensive service. I do not think Yahoo offers any publicly available affiliate program or referral service for this registration service, so I would think the only entity bidding on this keyword would be Yahoo itself. That doesn't explain why the average cost per click is so high. This one just baffles me. It might be Yahoo trying to protect it's brand, or it might be some weird glitch. It could even be Google doing this on Yahoo's behalf to avoid getting sued by their biggest competitor. I should also note that "domains yahoo" is very weird grammar, perhaps Yahoo offers some service is a different country that is much more profitable, and these keyword bids are just a weird translation. "Domain name yahoo" is often second on some high paying keyword lists.

Benchmark lending was something I had never heard of. I did some research, and found it has to do with interest rates and banking, which seems to be a popular theme among high paying keywords. The benchmark rate is set by the Federal Reserve in the United States, and it is the interest rate the banks pay when they borrow money. That's right, your bank borrows money, too! They must have a certain amount of money on reserve, and when they don't they borrow money over a very short term (such as one night). So why is this term so valuable? Banks and mortgage companies seek out people who might need a loan. Banking makes it's money on loans, it's just a valuable business to be a part of when there are lots of customers. This price seems almost reasonable compared to many of the other keywords.

100 Home Equity Loan - Average Price : $26

This keyword combination seems confusing, but that's only because the 100 is not listed as 100%. 100% is the term that makes sense here, but who needs that percentage symbol anyway? A 100% home equity loan allows you to borrow against your home, with some tax deductible implications that you'll have to talk to your accountant about, because I am not a CPA. Like I've stated before, loans can be very profitable for the people who are lending, which is why this keyword carries such a high price.

Adverse Credit Re-mortgage - Average Price : $31

Here's another term I had never heard of. A little research found it was the process of paying off one mortgage with another mortgage on the same property. Elementary economics tells us this should not be possible, but apparently it can be with some nifty refinancing tricks. It's definitely not something recommended for everyone. The high price for this term is explained by the fact that it involves money lending and banking, which can be very profitable. Think about it, banks produce nothing, yet are worth billions. Although niche websites are nice, adverse credit re-mortgage is probably a little too specific to be very profitable. Perhaps an expanded site explaining banking terms could do the trick.

Anti Spam Appliance - Average Price : $26

Apparently, an anti spam appliance is not just anti spam software. You can find software anywhere. There must be a hundred different anti spam programs and filters, some are free. An anti spam appliance goes a little deeper than just software. It is hardware that can be used to block spam, and then sort it based on standard industry practices. This type of device is not for individuals, it is for businesses, especially those that might have a spam problem. If spam is getting in the way of company productivity, this type of thing might be for you. Obviously, these things are not cheap, and the profit margins are going to be fairly high, as with any specialized computing device, so paying a high price for customers only makes sense.
